Developer Delancey silent on master plan

No Consultations with Local Residents have taken place.

We are still waiting for the Masterplan for the Earl’s Court site, the largest Opportunity Site within Zone 1 in London. This is a site of enormous strategic importance to both the ward and the borough, and as such a project of this scale should involve proper, meaningful local consultation with residents from the start, and this is not happening. Since the loss of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre Cllr. Linda Wade has been a long- time campaigner for a Masterplan that delivers the range of housing options, with the supporting social infrastructure that the borough needs.

There is an urgent need to re evaluate the economic impact on the local economy and businesses and regenerate Earl’s Court Road, on as well as the impact of a 42-acre site on our saturated road and tube systems. This is a real opportunity to create a green, sustainable centre to the borough with a cultural destination location at the heart of
the development.

The Council does not propose to produce a Sup- plementary Planning Document for the site – this is a missed opportunity to define need, set standards and incorporate design codes.

We need to deliver homes for the future, but we need to do so with an understanding of the value of our heritage, architectural legacy, and the need to preserve our Conservation Areas and open spaces. Planning should be based on the needs of the borough and not dictated by developers. We need stronger leadership on the Planning Committee to stand up for our residents and communities.
