Cycle Paths? Council says NO

After years of rejecting different cycling paths across Kensington & Chelsea, there are barely any safe spaces for cyclists in the borough

RBKC has the lowest number of protected cycle paths in the whole of London and its roads are cycle unfriendly. Only 1% of RBKC roads have segregated cycle lanes! This leads to many cyclists searching for safety on pavements.

RBKC are lacking a vision for a proper cycle plan whilst getting entangled in a fight with Labour TFL. They are not listening to their residents of which a large majority is in favour of more and safer cycle lanes.

After blocking a major cross London Cycle Highway along Holland Park Avenue and breaking up the protected cycle path on Kensington High Street after only a few weeks, there are no clear plans to create a safe environment in the borough for cyclists.

J-F Burford, Redcliffe Lib Dem activist demands a comprehensive and cohesive plan of cycle routes for the whole Borough that enables people to travel from north to south and east to west with proper continuous cycle lanes. As such we provide people with the opportunity to use alternative transport in a safe way and catch up with the rest of London on this project.

J-F Burford said “We urgently need to catch up with the rest of London, create safe spaces for cyclists with proper infrastructure on both bigger and smaller roads. “
