Burning waste, more traffic and still no action

Even with twice weekly rubbish pickups, this Conservative-run council is failing to keep our streets clean. We need change.

On the surface, our neighbourhood is a green and verdant place. Scratch a little deeper and you can see how the Council’s failures are leaving our bins untended and our air toxic.

With the looming threat of climate change, more of the borough’s residents are becoming aware of their environmental impact and are trying to recycle more of their waste. However, the infrastructure to process this increase simply doesn’t exist. In 2019 the BBC found that 79% of our household waste in the borough is simply incinerated.

Even more locally some residents being are so heavily affected by air pollution that they are afraid to open their windows in summer. The Council and the Mayor must take decisive action; but this will not take place unless there are new voices putting forward better ideas and fighting for residents rights.

Lend us your vote on 5th May 2022, and help us hold the Council to account.
